It’s prom season, which means our social media feeds are rife with promposals. Whereas some remain low key with a personalized cake, sign, or banner, many are taken to epic levels that we can’t help but drop our jaws over. One such promposal is going viral for its over-the-top execution, and you’re not going to believe what was involved.
Caitlan, a high school senior from Houston, Texas, is going to prom with her friend Louis, a junior at the same school. To ask her to prom, Louis went all out, and the gift that came with the question of the year was drool-worthy. Louis wrote on a poster, “If the shoe fits makeup your mind.” With it, came a set of gold Mylar balloons that spelled out the word “prom,” a bag full of makeup from Sephora, and a pair of nude patent pointed-toe pumps from Christian Louboutin, BuzzFeed reports. That’s right: To ask Caitlan to prom, Louis bought her Louboutins. Woah.
A pair of Louboutins is a huge purchase for an individual — a similar pair retails for $675 — let alone a gift from a friend. What’s more, to think that a high schooler gifted these iconic red soles to a fellow student has the internet going absolutely wild.
Caitlan tweeted about the occurrence, writing, “Y’all the shoe fit.” We should hope so, because they’re gorgeous. In reply to her sharing the prom proposal on social media, the Internet wasted no time replying with good wishes and words like “This man got her red bottoms I’m crying omg keep him” and “Betta marry this man one day.”
Others, however, couldn’t believe how high schoolers were able to afford such a lavish promposal.
All we can say is: Not too shabby, Louis. We’re sure Caitlan is going to look killer in those heels on prom night.
