EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Christian Louboutin And Sabyasachi Mukherjee Interview Each Other
The iconic shoe designer and the Indian fashion designer interview each other for the very first time
The collaboration between French luxury designer Christian Louboutin and Indian couturier Sabyasachi Mukherjee comes as no surprise given Christian’s well-documented love for India. The two friends met at Sabyasachi’s Mumbai boutique by chance in July 2015, where they immediately formed a connection. As a testament to their friendship, Christian created the extraordinary shoes and exquisite handbags that walked the runway of Sabyasachi’s annual couture shows.
As a patron and enthusiast of glorious garments and quality craftsmanship, it saddened Monsieur Louboutin that all of the Sabyasachi’s saris were kept hidden away in his private archive in his hometown Kolkata. So the pair decided to work on an exclusive collection that combines Louboutin’s craftsmanship with Sabyasachi’s rich textiles.
Iconic Shoe Designer Christian Louboutin Now Has A Baby Line
Christian Louboutin revealed his collaboration with Gwyneth Paltrow’s site, Goop, and it’s the cutest thing we ever did see.
Introducing … the “Loubibaby,” the new luxury red bottom for babies. This is the very first tiny tot shoe for the designer, and it takes the form of cute little Mary Janes. The design features a handmade bow and Christian’s signature red sole.
The baby Mary Janes come in three different colorways – pink satin, blue satin, and a gold Nappa Laminato. Launching Nov. 16, right in time for the holiday season, these will run y’all $250 if you’re investing in a pair for your daughter, niece, or God baby. The tiny soles will be available for purchase on goop.com and at Goop’s pop-up shops in New York, Los Angeles and Miami.
Being that Gwyn and Beyoncé are besties, we’re sure Blue Ivy will have all three red bottoms that she can pair with her fancy luxury dresses and more. And of course, North West, because she’s toddler fashion inspo.
Anyway, we’ll wait for Cardi B to drop an infant or toddler appropriate Bodak Yellow version amping the hype even more.
Christian Louboutin Talks His Love of India and Exclusive Collection for Level Shoes
Level Shoes hosted legendary designer Christian Louboutin as part of the “Dear India” campaign for a special in-store talk on his deep love for the country and how it influenced his creations over the years.
Sharing with moderator Ritu Upadhyay that he fell in love with India at just 16 years old, Louboutin spoke about how the vibrant and welcoming culture of the land not only inspired his work, but became a part of it as well.
Louboutin’s exclusive women’s and men’s shoe collection with Indian couture designer Sabyasachi is a true reflection of the luxurious nature of Indian workmanship.
On India, and on his collaboration with Sabyasachi, Louboutin said, “India has always been a fascinating and very interesting country. In terms of inspiration, it’s one of the countries that always comes to my mind. It is nice to bring the work that I’ve been doing for the Sabyasachi collaboration here to Dubai as the bright light of the city brings a beautiful exposure to the rich work.”
“There is a common thread between India and the Emirates on how the bright sun light reflects on the work that has gold and embroidery details and textures that are not flat.”
The Christian Louboutin x Sabyasachi collection is available exclusively at Level Shoes in the Middle East.
